Installed Components

The Challenge

Besides the challenges of coordinating with many different government organizations on the same installation, our team also had to manage old infrastructure and buildings on post. Existing wiring and old installations needed replacing just to be able to maintain the current equipment as well as to have the ability to upgrade.

Lastly mapping the network routing was an issue as it was very old with minimal drawings from its initial installation. Balancing urgent corrective maintenance emergency alongside execution of preventative maintenance in general even with a full-time dedicated staff, at times seemed challenging.

Our Solution

The ISS team worked closely with the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) and the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) to gain access to multiple secure locations throughout the installation. This allowed a correct network map to be created, which in turn allowed the team to be able to accurately estimate the type of systems needed for a proper replacement.

For over 10 years, the relationship ISS continues to foster with both Fort McCoy staff as well as the USACE has allowed seamless updates and replacements of the ESS system as Fort McCoy continues to grow in Department of Defense responsibility and scope.
